‚ÄčTitus Gwaze, the 19-year-old prop from Zimbabwe, has agreed to stay at Oldham RL Club on loan for the full season.

His original loan deal from Wakefield Trinity was for one month but after playing in each of the Roughyeds’ four games since his arrival at the Vestacare Stadium the youngster had no hesitation in committing to a long stay once the clubs had agreed.

“I’m getting hit by men for the first time,” said the teenager. “At my age it took some getting used to at first, but I’m getting there. I like to think I’m doing okay,

“It was a big step-up from age-group rugby, but I’m enjoying it 100 per cent. Everyone at the club has been nice to me and the other lads have made it easy for me to settle in.

“I’m looking forward to the rest of the season and seeing what we can achieve.”¬†

Bearing his youth in mind, he has a big reputation for having the strength, stamina and ‘engine’ to put in long spells up the middle where the battle is usually at its fiercest.

“He’s got better with every game,” said head coach Scott Naylor. “People need to realise how young he is and what position he is playing. It’s tough for a young lad to be playing in the front-row.

“He’s good in training and good to work with and as time goes on he will be strong enough to play a lot of minutes in a lot of games.”
