A Scarecrow Trail organised by Friends of Diggle School (FoDS) is heading to the village this Easter.

The theme of the trail is ‘Children’s Books’ and people are welcome to take part by completing the trail as well as creating their own scarecrow to feature.

The group already have 35 scarecrows registered and are hoping even more will be entered. There will be a prize for the Best Scarecrow as well as an Easter treat for all entrants. All correct entries will also be entered into a prize draw.

The deadline to register a scarecrow is March 29 with entry forms available at The Gate Inn, Diggle Post Office and Vintage Ambience Warth Mill. Entering a scarecrow is free of charge.

The trail runs across the Easter Holidays (April 7-22) with maps available from April 7 at The Gate Inn, Diggle Post Office, Grandpa Greene’s and Vintage Ambience Warth Mill.

Trail maps will be £3 each with all funds going back to benefit the children of Diggle School.

Tracy Buckley from FoDS said: “It is the first Scarecrow Trail we have ever done. We had seen them done in other paces and thought it would be great for the village. We are just starting to map it out and we have so many amazing scarecrows already entered, it should be really good.

“The money raised all go back into the school. We are currently trying to get new markings on the playground so it can be an outdoor classroom for the children.”
