Holker Old Boys 0-3 Avro

Avro cruised to a 3-0 victory at Holker Old Boys to maintain the pressure on first place Longridge Town.

The visitors took the lead by the second minute thanks to Jack Turnbull, before the midfielder – who re-joined the club from Chadderton earlier in the week – bagged his second in the 18th minute to make it 2-0.

Avro were in the ascendency by this point and had more chances to extend their lead.

However, they were made to wait until the 89th minute to notch their third.

Joe Rathbone’s strike added gloss to a dominant victory in Cumbria.

Of the Turnbull signing, joint-manager James Hampson said: “Jack is someone we have had eyes on for some time.

“A dynamic midfielder who can score goals, he also brings experience and a fantastic work ethic to the squad.

“We saw Jack have a great game against us on Boxing Day, and we saw clearly the quality he could add to the mix,” he added.

“Jack is Avro, knows all the lads so settling in will be no problem.

“We are delighted to have him back at the club.”

Avro have also welcomed back Reece Lyndon, who has previously played for Northwich Victoria, Chadderton and Silsden.

“Reece is someone who we’ve wanted for a long time, so it was a no brainer when he became available,” said Hampson.
