Tameside Saturday league

Chadderton Park under 19’s Eagles put on a fantastic display as they lost 4-1 at home to the unbeaten league leaders Waterloo.

With a number of first team players missing and only 12 players available the Eagles played some great football and put on a superb first half defensive display despite conceding after only six minutes they restricted Waterloo to long range shots and when they did get past the Eagles defence they were stopped by the Eagles keeper James Henshaw who was in superb form to deny Waterloo time and time again. Waterloo made it 2-0 after 28 minutes.

The Eagles created a few chances in the first half but couldn’t convert them.

Into the second half  and the Eagles were starting to find the gaps in the Waterloo midfield and defence but failing to test the keeper.

The Eagles were hit with a double salvo in a nine minute spell when Waterloo scored in the 66th and 75th minutes to make it 4-0.

Finally with seven minutes left the Eagles scored a superb goal when the Eagles won the ball in midfield with Lewis Connell who played a short pass to Byron Smith who unleashed a 35 yard screamer into the top right hand corner to make it 4-1. Regan McCarthy should have made it 4-2 when he charged down a ball which 2 Waterloo defenders failed to deal with and when the Waterloo keeper failed to gather the ball all McCarthy had to do was roll the ball into the empty net but somehow managed to put his effort wide.

North Bury League

It was Derby Day again in the North Bury U15 Premier League with the Chadderton Park under 15’s Lions taking on Chadderton Park under 15’s Eagles.

Playing in awful conditions it took the teams a few minutes to settle into the game and it wasn’t a surprise when the Lions took a well-deserved lead through Kristian Walker following the a great team move.

Adam Belwassa added the Lions second with a smart finish. The Eagles keeper repeatedly kept the Lions at bay with a string of wonderful saves.

Lewis North added a third for the Lions with another great team move. It wasn’t long before Walker added his second of the game to make it 4-0 and Walker completed his hat-trick with an absolute rocket of a shot from 30 yards to make it 5-0.

Walker hit another long range shot which hit the post and bounced back for Lawrence Majeck to tap home to make it 6-0

The icing was put on the cake when Walker scored his fourth of the game with another sensational team goal to make it 7-0 to the Lions and give them the three points.

East Manchester Junior Football League – Saturday

Chadderton Park under 15’s Dragons made 6 league wins out of 6 with a hard fought 3-2 win away at Springhead Dragons.

Jaden Bradford opened the scoring with a great run and good strike to make it 1-0.

It wasn’t long before Carlos Santos made it 2-0 with a great team move.

Springhead pulled one back before half time with a superb 30 yard shot which dipped into the corner of the net.

Into the second half and Santos scored his second of the game with another great team to move to make it 3-1.

With 5 minutes remaining Springhead made it 3-2 after breaking down the left side.

The Dragons played out the final 5 minutes to claim the win and the 3 points.

North Manchester Girls League

Chadderton Park under 14’s Girls suffered a disappointing 1-0 defeat at home to unbeaten league leaders Droylsden Youth Centre U14 Pumas in the Semi Finals of the U14’s Knockout Cup.

The girls matched their opponents throughout the game playing some great team football and for forty minutes the girls kept Droylsden at bay only for the team to make one mistake which Droylsden duly punished to take the lead but you can’t take anything from the girls who battled from the first to the last whistle and deserved something out of the game against the top of the league.
