This week’s additions of the Tameside Reporter, Glossop Chronicle, and Oldham Reporter will have a very different look and feel about them.

We are turning the clock back 100 years as we mark the 100 year anniversary of the end of World War One, to recall how our communities greeted the news that the Great War was finally over.

Our special ‘Souvenir Remembrance Edition’ will reflect on the news columns of the Reporter and Chronicle of the time, with special features courtesy of the Tameside Local Studies and Archives Centre and Glossop Heritage Trust.

The Glossop Chronicle will also reveal how local people looking to the future set up a fund to erect a War Memorial on Norfolk Square to be a permanent reminder of the Glossopdale men who lost their lives in the war.

We will also be reflecting on how our communities have marked the many anniversaries over the last four years, acknowledging the great sacrifice of the Great War and other wars since.

While still carrying the usual week’s news, our publication is intended as a unique and fitting souvenir in this very special year of Remembrance and as such will be published in broadsheet form and in mono, as we recreate the newspaper as it was 100 years ago in time for November 11th this year.

The price will remain 60p.
