Uppermill FC are starting a Walking Football Team for people aged 60 and over.

Walking Football is a variant of association football aimed at keeping people over 50 involved in the sport if they struggle to play the traditional game due to health or lack of mobility. It can be played indoors or outdoors and has specific rules that outlaws running and allows no contact between players. Over-head height restrictions and indirect free kicks ensure that the sport is played safely.

Teams are usually 5 or 6-a-side and the sport allows people who love football but can not play get back to playing the sport they love at a slower pace.

The first training session with Uppermill FC takes place on Tuesday October 23 from 2-3pm at Saddleworth Pool and Leisure Centre on their 7×7 3G pitch.

There will be a coach from West Riding FA in attendance to show everyone what the game is about.

If you are interested in taking part turn up on the day or contact Uppermill FC Secretary, Michelle Simpson, for more information at [email protected]
