Delph Horticultural and Craft Society hosted their 90th annual show this weekend at the Methodist Hall in the village.

Chairman of the Society, Gilbert Symes, said: “Last year was a new beginning for the show. It had previously been held in the old Liberal Reform Club which later became the Delph Club. It was thought that when the Delph Club was sold, that would be the end of the Delph Show, but thanks to Delph Methodists who allowed us to us to stage the show in the upstairs Sunday school we survived.”

The show was a big success with lots of entries to all categories which included Best Vegetable, Best Flower, Best Children’s Exhibit and Best Exhibit in Show.

Judges were Andy Winterburn, Judith Austin and John McCombs.

There was also cakes, jams, needlework and other handicrafts on show and after an auction was held to sell the produce.

Taking home the Best Exhibit in Show was young Brandon Buckley who also won Best Flower Pot Man.

Gilbert added: “It was a really good show and the day went well, we want to say thank you to all of our sponsors and supporters.”

Next year’s show will be on September 14 2019.
