The sun came out for Failsworth Carnival this weekend and thanks to the generous local community the 2019 carnival will go ahead.

Held on Lord Lane Playing Fields, the carnival had a variety of activities and performances for all the family including the Failsworth Brass Band, Good Vibrations, Footlights and April Marchington.

A fairground was onsite both days and Blood Bikes, Oldham Cancer Support, the Army Cadets and many more manned stalls to give public information on what is happening in their area.

The parade itself took place on the Saturday at 1pm with the Carnival Royalty and float winners being presented their rewards later in the afternoon.

The weekend was also host to a Bonny Baby competition and a grand prize draw.

The event is run by a small team of volunteers and every penny made goes towards next year’s carnival.

Treasurer of the Failsworth Carnival Committee, Enid Bell, said: “The sun shone and the crowds came out to watch the Failsworth Carnival parade and enjoy the stalls and activities on Lord Lane playing fields.

“Sunday was also sunny and many came to watch the various young people’s group entertain on the stage area.  The committee would like to thank all who supported the event in many ways.  There will be a 2019 carnival thanks to the public’s generosity.”
