Man left with fractured cheekbone after attack in nightclub toilet

A man was left unconscious after an assault at in the toilets of a nightclub in Oldham earlier this month.

The 34-year-old victim suffered a fractured cheekbone in the attack which happened at around 2.20am on Saturday December 2nd, at the Liquid & Envy nightclub on Retiro Street.

He was taken to hospital where he was treated for his injuries, which also included bruising to the face.

Detective Constable Ian Hope of GMP’s Oldham borough, said: “This was a nasty attack on an innocent man who was simply enjoying his Saturday night.

“He was left unconscious and with little recollection of the assault so we are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this to please get in touch.

“A man was left requiring hospital treatment as a result of this unprovoked attack and I would urge anyone that may have any information that could assist our investigation to please come forward.”

It was the first of two serious incidents to take place at Liquid & Envy over the same weekend. In the early hours of the following Sunday morning, a 23-year-old bouncer was rushed to hospital after being stabbed in the neck.

Two people were arrested in connection with the stabbing. 18-year-old Shaquille Barry Baxter, from Sale, appeared at Tameside Magistrates Court last week charged with section 18 assault, while Saskia Custer, 19, was charged with perverting the course of justice.
